ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Technical and Medical Support Positions. SPECIALIZED
Experience:
Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-08, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes technical work in:
drafting, surveying construction estimating, physical science, mathematics, aerospace, architecture, chemicals, electrical or mechanical systems, mining, petroleum, or nuclear systems. Applying knowledge of CADD/GIS applications software including AutoDesk MAP, AutoCAD, and ArcView; ability to apply knowledge of current automated information systems and practices to development of enterprise GIS and the ability to apply systems analysis and design methodologies. Surveying methods, equipment, and techniques in the measurement or determination of distances, elevations, areas, angles, land boundaries and other features of the earth's surface. Planning, estimating, scheduling, and expediting the production of a variety of maps and visual aids involving both manual and automated production operations and support services. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS:
Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in -grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-08 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs):
Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and associated standards, AutoCAD, ArcView, and database systems such as Excel is needed to develop and maintain the program responsibilities. 2. Knowledge of civil, mechanical, electrical, and architectural engineering standards, methods, practices, and techniques, materials, and equipment to ensure work is in compliance with federal, state, and local codes and regulations and to accomplish complex drafting assignments. 3. Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental requirements as outlined in applicable standards and regulatory guidelines. 4. Skilled in preparing original and complex drawings that are neat, accurate, appropriately dimensioned, and logically arranged, utilizing the methods and techniques of GIS and CADD; skilled in developing and managing automated databases. 5. Ability to plan, conduct, and record site/facility surveys and inspections; ability to coordinate, plan, organize, execute, direct and evaluate programs related to assigned duties. 6. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing to prepare and present briefings; ability to develop and maintain good working relationships. PART-TIME OR UNPAID
Experience:
Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
